InterBank Proud Futures: Celebrating authenticity, inclusion and opportunity in financial services

On 4 November 2025, InterBank hosted its first-ever Proud Futures event; a vibrant, inspiring afternoon dedicated to spotlighting careers in financial services for LGBTQ+ students and allies. Held in partnership with 19 InterBank firms, the event brought together students, industry professionals and advocates for an afternoon of honest conversation, connection and empowerment.

The energy in the room was palpable from the start. Attendees were welcomed into a space where authenticity was both encouraged and celebrated. The day’s agenda was packed with a panel discussion, networking sessions and a keynote address from Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange. Dame Julia’s powerful words set the tone: “Bringing your full self to work isn’t just good for you, it’s good for business. Authenticity drives creativity, trust and collaboration.”

Throughout the event, panellists shared their personal journeys into financial services, offering candid insights into the challenges and triumphs of building a career while staying true to oneself. Max Taylor, President of EUROUT, captured the spirit of exploration with a memorable analogy: “Internships are like career tapas, try a bit of everything, and you’ll discover what truly excites you.”

Key themes emerged from the day’s conversations:

  • Authenticity is a strength: Embracing who you are fosters innovation and trust within teams.
  • Inclusion is essential: Every action and decision should be shaped by a commitment to diversity and belonging.
  • Networking matters: Building connections opens doors and helps overcome imposter syndrome.
  • Leadership is for everyone: “You can lead from any seat, leadership is about influence, not hierarchy.”

Students left with practical advice and renewed confidence. “Keep an open mind about opportunities, say yes and go for it!” was a recurring message. Panellists encouraged attendees not to let stereotypes limit their ambitions and to remember that leadership comes in many forms.

The Proud Futures event was more than just a career fair, it was a celebration of community, courage and the bright future ahead for LGBTQ+ talent in financial services. As we look forward to building on this momentum in 2026, we remain committed to fostering spaces where everyone can thrive by being their authentic selves.

Thank you to all the students, speakers and partner firms who made this event such a resounding success. Together, we’re shaping a more inclusive, dynamic industry, one where everyone’s future is truly proud.
