Mental Health and Mindfulness Event – 1 July 2016

Despite improvements in social attitudes and progressive changes to legislation, many lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are still experiencing difficulties that can affect their everyday health and well-being.  Being LGBT does not in itself lead to mental health issues, but members of the community can have higher susceptibility to mental health problems and for some, additional factors such as age, religion or ethnicity can further complicate mental distress.

This event kindly hosted by Citi and in association with Interbank, examined the causes of mental health problems within the LGBT community and gave attendees practical tools and advice to help manage their own day to day mental health and well-being.

We would like to thank Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive of Stonewall; Alessandro Storer, Equality Improvement Manager at MIND; and Jemima Jefferson, Diversity & Inclusion Specialist and Mental Health First Aid Trainer for joining us for the event.  Their insights were highly valuable and well received by all our attendees.
